Part B

I learned several things from this class. I learned about different types of food and where they originated from. I learned about effects wars can have on soldiers of differing ages, and I enjoyed reading All Quiet on the Western Front, as I thought it was an interesting book. I learned about different cities and places that sound interesting to travel to.  I liked learning about different time periods on the same subject, such as music, theatre and dance from the 18th century to the 21st century. I learned that in Germany they like things to be portrayed as real, rather than how Hollywood depicts lives in the United States. I also learned that some students in class can be ridiculous and complain about things that shouldn’t be complained about. I thought this class was easy, yet interesting. It’s a class that doesn’t rush you to memorize things, or make absolute sure you’re knowledgeable on given topics. It’s a laid back class, and I think some students could’ve taken more out of it.

Part A

Blog Reviews

I thought the blog was set up simply and easy to read. I think he put in an average amount. I liked how he researched but then provided a summary.
I think he cared enough because he did do his research, and for some things he provided personal experiences. I didn’t see any citations though.
Overall informative quality: 4
Readability: 4
I thought his blog was similar to mine.

Simple, used different sized text which ended up getting annoying. Some of the text size was too small for reading actual information.
I think it was pretty average. There was research put in, but the posts were short and to the point rather than being in depth.
Overall informative quality: 4
Readability: 3.5
I thought his blog was worse than mine.

She used many pictures, I liked the layout, very easy to read.
A little more than average. She put in the research and gave enough information while still applying what she learned to her personal experiences.
Overall informative quality: 5
Readability: 5
I thought her blog was better than mine.

Red Army Faction

The Red Army Faction was known as the Baader-Meinhof group in its earlier stages. Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Horst Mahler, and Ulrike Meinhof founded the RAF in 1970. The RAF was a communist, anti-imperialist West German far left militant group. They engaged in armed resistance against what they considered to be a fascist state. They formed with the “intention of complementing the plethora of revolutionary and radical groups across West Germany and Europe, as a more class conscious and determined force compared with some of its contemporaries” (Red Army Faction Wikipedia). They were considered to be a terrorist organization by the West German government. The RAF committed many operations from 1970-1998, especially late in 1977 and that led to a national crisis called German Autumn which was about a kidnapping and murder of the president of the “Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI)” (German Autumn Wikipedia). Included in German Autumn was also the “hijacking of the Lufthansa airplane "Landshut" by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).” (German Autumn Wikipedia). The RAF is responsible for 34 deaths during almost 30 years of activity. There are several films, documentaries, TV shows, works of art, and books about the Red Army Faction.
